Standard Disclosures are for positions that involve regular contact with those aged under 18, or for people of all ages who may be vulnerable for other reasons. Regular contact can mean contact once a week on a regular basis, eg. a part time school gardener etc. or any person who may have direct responsibility for financial budgets. If the position is in education or healthcare, a Standard Disclosure will also give information contained in the government Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Lists '99 and Department of Health, of those considered unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.
Enhanced Disclosures are for posts involving greater contact with children or other vulnerable adults. Such work involves regularly caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of these people. As well as all of the information contained in a Standard Disclosure, Enhanced Disclosures may also contain information that is held locally by the police.
